Every week we go to Sigagule, a rural village to treat dogs. We collect the dogs with our car and transport them to a meeting point where the dogs will be treated. We dip the dogs for ticks and fleas, check them for illnesses and feed them. With your donation we can get a car, which will provide transport for the dogs for treatment, sterilizations; chemotherapy and clinic visits: With your help and donation we can afford petrol for the car for these trips, impacting dogs each week.
Dogs in South Africa suffer from different diseases like CTVT. CTVT is a transmissible cancer that effects dogs. This disease is spread during mating and causes tumours which are usually associated with the external genitalia of both male and female dogs. Nourish' aim is to assist the community by transporting sick dogs to the local clinic for chemotherapy treatments, health checks and sterilizations. For poor community members caring for their animals like this is not an option, so we help.
Having a vehicle for this project will allow us to do more regular home visits to sick dogs, and follow up visits to dogs that have had treatment or surgery. It also allows us to go around on education campaigns and check the quality of animal care and homes. The car with safety rails would ensure we can commit to chemo treatments, sterilizations and helping animals in need.
We educate dog owners on how to treat their dogs right. We teach people about the different diseases, how to prevent them and what to do if they themselves get in contact with it. It is very important to teach people from an early age to treat animals with respect. This applies to dogs but in extension to all animals. We believe in the one health principle: healthy animals are linked to a healthy environment is linked to healthy people. Caring for animals has a ripple effect in the community.
Animals need your help, because the transportation of some species is simply impossible without a certain technique. The most important thing is that transportation can help the animals survive, if it is useful, like an ambulance. And the amount is not so great as the amount of aid that we can provide to animals.
Can a drop of your help save an animal? Or even a few? Of course, because buying a vehicle, it will last a minimum of a year, just imagine how much you can transfer and save animals during this time. But in comparison with others, everything is required-nothing. Only after unification we can help our lesser brothers.
Understand, if you have a car, how much did it make your life easier? If you want to eat, go to the grocery store if you get sick in the hospital. And these cars perform the same functions, because animals themselves will not reach the hospital. And not one, but a lot of animals. We can make life easier, as we have at one time relieved ourselves, but at the same time saving these lives.
