In close cooperation with Munich University of Applied Sciences, we are the driving force and co-designer of the ETHIKUM-certificate, a supplementary theoretical and practical qualification for students in the area of ethics and sustainability. The ETHIKUM allows the students to flexibly integrate it into their schedules. The program already received its first award from UNESCO and is since then an 'Official Project of the United Nations Decade of Education for Sustainable Development 2005-14'.
How does the ETHIKUM work? Students acquire first basic knowledge of ethics and sustainability in interdisciplinary teams. According to personal preferences, students can broaden their knowledge in the further stages of their studies," says Angela Poech, professor at the Department of Business Administration and the contact person for the ETHIKUM. "We put particular emphasis on practice-oriented offers that we carry out in cooperation with various partners."
Achieving the certificate by gathering ethic points Whoever receives it has learned a lot, among other things, in practical ethics, interdisciplinary teamwork, connected thinking and reasoning ability. But not only classes within the university's offer are rewarded, but also social commitment, volunteer work and other activities that serve public interest or the environment. After all, ethics and sustainability should not only be contemplated, but also be put into practice!
Involvement of Ethica rationalis Ethica rationalis takes on multiple roles here: 1. Focusing on practical and applied aspects of ethical education by offering specific programs (workshops, field trips, projects with profit or non-profit-organisations) 2. Creation of a network between all stakeholders - students, cooperation partners, social organizations and the private sector.
