Jake's Diapers serves babies around the world living in devastatingly difficult situations, where sometimes a choice has to be made between food and diapers. Sadly, this includes Veterans here in our own community. These Veterans tend to be living in poverty, as well as suffering from PTSD and other traumatic illnesses and are struggling to provide basic needs for their families. This project will provide a complete supply of cloth diapers to our Veteran babies from birth to potty training. There are more than 40 Veterans with young, infant children in the Fox Valley whose lives are impacted by suicide. These Veterans receive support and help from the Center for Suicide Awareness, and tend to be suffering from PTSD and other challenging mental illnesses. They find themselves in a dire situation of being unable to meet the basic needs of their children, including an adequate supply of diapers to keep their babies and toddlers clean, dry and healthy.Through an innovative collaboration between Jake's Diapers and the Center for Suicide Awareness this project will supply cloth diaper kits to Veterans experiencing diaper need in the Fox Valley area of Wisconsin. These kits solve diaper need by providing a complete supply of cloth diapers to meet the diapering needs of these children from birth to potty training.
